The anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle efficacy of Matrixyl^® 3000 is very well known. It is the first anti-ageing ingredient based on the matrikine peptide technology, plus its efficiency has been demonstrated on both women and men as illustrated in the following studies:

A clinical study using female panellists, demonstrated that after just 2 months of treatment with Matrixyl^® 3000, the surface occupied by deep wrinkles was reduced by 45%, and the skin’s tonicity increased by nearly 20%.

In a separate 2 month clinical study conducted on a panel of men, the anti-wrinkle efficacy of Matrixyl^® 3000 was confirmed. As the wrinkle volume decreases (-17.1%), the spread angle increases (+5.4%), which leads to a reduction of the surface occupied by deep wrinkles of nearly 30%.

Mid 2011, Sederma was presenting a new in vivo test demonstrating the protective and repairing effect against photo-induced ageing of Matrixyl^® 3000.

These clinical studies have revealed the positive matrix reinforcing effect of Matrixyl^® 3000 by measuring the SLEB density (Subepidermal Low Echogenic Band that corresponds to the papillary dermis). A significant improvement corresponding to a gain in age of 1.8 years is visible in just one month, and confirmed after 2 months: the photo-induced ageing is then delayed by 5.5 years.

Another analysis of the papillary dermis by confocal laser microscopy has shown that Matrixyl^® 3000 helps reduce the fibre fragmentation and notably supports the reconstruction of the papillary dermal fibre network.

Today, a complementary approach is confirming Matrixyl^® 3000’s repairing effect of the cutaneous damages of ageing. Now it is the Matrixyl^® 3000’s ability to reverse chronological ageing that has been demonstrated with both in vitro and ex vivo studies. Among other things Matrixyl^® 3000 has been shown to regulate the expression of recently discovered marker of senescence: progerin.
