CBD OIL FOR CATS

We love our pets! There’s no doubt about it. That’s why we want to use products that ease their stress and discomfort. The use of CBD oil in cats is growing for this very reason — to make your cat as comfy as possible.

What is CBD and how does it work for my cat?

CBD is a natural compound that comes from cannabis plants, mainly hemp. There are more than 100 active compounds in cannabis, but cannabidiol (CBD) is the one commonly used for wellness.

Pet parents may be concerned about using cannabis derivatives because of their “intoxicating” effects, but CBD is not like other substances. Researchers found that CBD does not have psychoactive effects, unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). This means you can rest assured that your cat will not get ‘high’ from taking CBD. Lately many veterinarians are now using CBD oil to treat chronic soreness and stress among pets. However, it is very important to understand that CBD oil does not cure diseases.

So, what does CBD do exactly? CBD can help balance your cat’s internal systems and provide comfort. It does this by interacting with your cat’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a large network that regulates many of your cat’s bodily functions such as pain response, mood, appetite, sleep, and more.

Is CBD oil safe for my cat?

CBD Oil For Cats | Stacy’s CBD Oil ProductsCBD is well-tolerated by the majority of cats. Owners do not have to worry about giving CBD oil to their cats as long as the product comes from a reputable brand. This means the company ensures the oil’s cannabinoid levels with third-party testing.

Also, CBD should not carry too many side effects if owners administer the correct dose. Owners should be careful so as not to give their pet too much CBD, especially if their pet is still new to the compound. Though it is impossible to overdose on CBD, excessive amounts can lead to mild sedation, dizziness, dry mouth, and diarrhea.

How much CBD should I give my cat?

Stacy’s CBD Oil recommends giving pets between 0.25 mg (regular dose) to 0.5 mg (strong dose) of CBD per every one pound (1 lb) of body weight.

The regular dose is recommended for daily wellness, old age, allergies, immune support, appetite stimulation, minor skin conditions, small aches, and digestive issues. If your pet is new to trying CBD, they should ALWAYS start with the regular dose!

The strong dose is best for severe aches, mobility issues, chronic discomfort, extreme queasiness, and mood/behavior issues.

For an all-natural, effective brand of CBD oil for your beloved cat, try Stacy’s CBD oil! We use organic, non-GMO ingredients in all of our products, including our cbd oil. Their top-of-the-line CBD oil contains what is called our carrier oil which is nutritious hemp seed oil (which is a superfood in itself!), and it’s tested by third-party labs to ensure its purity and potency.

Currently, there are no official dosing guidelines for CBD, which makes it difficult for pet owners to find out the correct dosage for their pets. But as a general rule, owners should try the smallest dose of CBD and monitor its effects on their cat. This is both practical and economical as products with a high concentration of CBD are expensive.

As we mentioned, the basic dosing formula for CBD oil for all pets is 0.25 mg for every one pound of body weight for a regular dose and 0.5 mg of CBD oil for a strong dose.

For combating swelling and soreness, Stacy’s CBD Oil recommends you give CBD oil to your cat eight hours or as needed. Pets with anxiety issues can take CBD oil 30 minutes before a triggering event such as leaving home, traveling, thunderstorms, fireworks, and separation from the owner.

Stacy’s CBD Oil pet tinctures make it easy for pet owners to administer the product! Their oil comes in a dropper bottle, which facilitates accurate dosing and fast absorption. You can drop the pet tincture on your pet’s food or treats or squeeze it directly into your pet’s mouth.

Treats are food that you can give as a reward for a pet’s good behavior. You can give them right away without mixing them with other food.

How to use CBD for cats?

CBD Oil For Cats | Stacy’s CBD Oil ProductsCBD oil is beneficial for cats because it may strengthen their endocannabinoid system. Again, the ECS helps maintain the internal balance of the body (homeostasis). Old and young pets can both benefit from CBD to give them calmness, supple joints, and a healthy appetite.

Cats are known to be fussy and prickly sometimes. This makes it a challenge for cat owners to administer even vitamins to them. Here are some helpful tips to give CBD oil to cats:

  1. First, you can hold the CBD oil dropper and allow the cat to lick the dropper as you squeeze out its contents. Just remember to wash the dropper before placing it back in the bottle.
  2. Second, place a few drops of CBD oil on your cat’s paw. Your cat’s licking will transport the product into its mouth.
  3. Third, you may add the product to your cat’s food before feeding time. Just make sure you are giving your cat the right dosage of CBD oil for optimum effect.

What is CO2 Extraction

The extraction process that removes CBD from hemp plays an important role in a product’s quality. For example, products made with a solvent extraction contain chemical contaminants that can be harmful to your cat. But, CBD products made with a clean, CO2 extraction don’t include these chemicals, making them safer for your pet.

In a CO2 extraction, hemp is cultivated and dried. Then, pressurized CO2 gas is run through the hemp material inside a contained chamber. This process strips the cannabinoids (including CBD) from the plant without using chemical solvents. The CO2 evaporates and leaves behind pure, untainted CBD.

Stacy’s CBD Oil always recommends buying CBD that is CO2 extracted. This is considered the ‘cleanest extraction method’ in the market. Plus, the CO2 returns to the environment and is absorbed by plants. CO2 extraction is both good for the environment and the end-user of the product.

Where the hemp comes from matters

CBD Oil For Cats | Stacy’s CBD Oil ProductsHemp is a cannabis plant that contains 0.3% or less THC. Since its THC levels are so low, it does not bear mind-altering properties. Hemp is otherwise known as Industrial Hemp and is one of the oldest crops ever to be domesticated by man beginning 8,000 B.C.

Even though hemp and marijuana are technically the same plant, they differ in genetics and THC levels. Hemp plants can easily adapt to climates and grow with minimal supervision unlike their sibling, marijuana. Also, hemp can be used in the manufacturing industry, unlike marijuana which is confined to recreational or medicinal purposes.

Stacy’s CBD Oil takes pride in its hemp source, which is organically grown in the USA. According to its website, the hemp farms do not use chemicals but only organic nutrients. Though there is no organic certification process for cannabidiol (CBD) Our CBD products are tested for pesticides, residual solvents, and potency to make sure that the pets receive the best CBD oil.

2018 Farm Bill Approved

In 2018, the U.S. legalized the agricultural production of hemp and deleted it from the list of controlled substances. The 2018 Farm bill ensures hemp is grown to a high-quality standard.

This entails U.S. Hemp farmers coming up with contingency measures in ensuring quality in cultivating the plant, including hiring an agronomist to maintain THC levels and to keep the plants hydrated. The law also ensures that Hemp does not contain over 0.3 percent of THC and that it is free from harmful chemicals and pesticides no heavy metals
